 Simmer also decided to change fin setup on all Quantums. Instead of the Icon rear fins they have moved to the more flexy and swept back Black Tip fins. Both due to feedback and due to our own testing we came to the conclusion that the small extra bottom end power and drive of the Icons was worth sacrificing for the very noticeable gains in looseness, control and predictability with the Black Tips. As shaper Ola Helenius says " the Quantums are already some of the most high riding, lively and agile wave boards out there and certainly very, very different to most quads in this sense"

Other changes include:
Harder sandwich material
More fiber where the mast hits the deck and under front heels
New way to put on graphics and new graphic material (same look though)
Better pads
Better non slip

All this is included in boards produced arriving from now on. Technically, it's more a part of the continual updates then something "2013". Again, all boards will have the same graphics for 2013 and all existing models will have he same shape.



A new name for an old sail, MissionX is changing to Halo. This year the PVC window is back as a request by parts of the windsurfing community around the world. The bullet proof image and the Simmer Style legacy now lives on in the Halo.

The Halo carries on the original Simmer legacy, to build sails which can handle the heaviest conditions in the world. This is what defines Simmer. The Halo has its roots in classic Simmer designs wave sail designs such as the Wavecomp, Reef, X-Flex and Mission X but we have taken what we have learnt from the Blacktip and translated that knowledge into the traditional sideshore wave sail. The objective with the Halo is to give the rider confidence to go for anything anywhere knowing that the sail can handle it and enable him/her the fingertip handle to maneuver on the wave. We have spared no expenses on the materials with all x-ply paneling and the super bullet proof PVC window.

The original S-1 was conceived as a compact, manoeuvre-oriented wavesail. Back in the day, compact meant all sails fitting on a 400 mast. Times have moved on and the latest evolution of the S-1 is a lot more compact, with most sizes fitting on a 370 mast. By using a shorter, lighter mast overall rig weight is reduced, in keeping with the S-1 philosophy.

The most visible change on the 013 S-1 is the 4-batten layout. The S-1 has used 4 battens in the smaller sizes a few times during its evolution when we were looking at softening the feel. But this time it’s every size that uses 4 battens for a new, softer, more manageable feel in every size.

There are many benefits to a 4 batten S-1:

• REDUCED WEIGHT
• INCREASED STRENGTH
• MORE MANOEUVRABLE
• SOFTER FEEL

The geometry and skin tension of the S-1 was always designed around initiating manoeuvres. This S-1 is about landing them. The softer foil flexes on landings resulting in a much higher success rate.

The S-1 is the most technical sail in existence. It is available in 1 colour scheme only. e5 is an extremely complicated and expensive material with high minimum order quantities. We choose to use only the most technical materials in the S-1 instead of focusing on a variety of pretty colours. Available Sept 10th.
